8 incredible towns where to build your Villa ?

If you are thinking of building a villa on the Costa Blanca and you have not decided on the municipality in which to start this trip, here you have some ideas.

Because in this post I am going to talk about 8 wonderful municipalities in the province of Alicante that seem ideal to me to build your house.

I have lived in one of them since I moved from Belgium 23 years ago.

1. Moraira

Actually, the municipality is called Teulada-Moraria, and it is located in a privileged enclave of the Marina Alta, north of Alicante, a few kilometers from major tourist destinations such as Calpe, Jávea or Benissa.

There are two population centers, with Teulada in the interior and Moraira on the beach (the El Portet beach is… spectacular!).

60% of the population is not Spanish. Many of them, Belgian, Dutch, English or German, thought the same thing that you are surely feeling for years: why not build the villa that I have always wanted here?

Most of them live here all year round, others have built their houses to spend the summer or any other vacation period.

If you know Spanish, I loved this YouTube video.

2. Benissa

Urban area of Benissa

Like Moraira, Benissa is also in the north of the province, in the region of La Marina Alta. Definitely: with much more population, about 10,000 inhabitants (many of them from northern Europe).

Its old town is full of very well-kept and charming houses, and 10 kilometers from the urban center, the municipal area reaches the “Benissa Costa” area.

Beautiful views of the coastal promenade of Benissa

Small bays and beaches of incredible natural beauty, such as La Fustera or L’Advocat. The walks along its coastline are of indescribable beauty and are very well equipped for hiking.

I promise you that it is one of my favourite areas of the coast.

In Benissa, by the way, there is one of the highest mountains in the province: the spectacular Sierra de Bernia, with 1200 meters of altitude.

3. Javea

Like many other coastal towns in Alicante, Jávea was a beautiful fishing village that, with the explosion of tourism from the 1960s, has known how to receive its visitors while preserving its essence.

Its old town is located in the valley of the Gorgos river, and its small bays, with transparent waters, intermingle with a spectacular coastline, from which we can see paradisiacal beaches such as Portitxol or La Granadella.

Other charming towns

I have told you about Benissa, Javea and Moraira, as I could have written about so many other towns, such as the ones I am going to mention below.

I think all of them deserve your attention, because any of them is a magnificent place to build your luxury villa in Alicante:

4. Guadalest, in the interior of La Marina Baja, is considered one of the most beautiful towns in Spain. A different municipality, which emerges between the highest mountains in the province, characterized by its spectacular swamp.

5. Altea, with its wonderful beaches and its bucolic old town at the top of the town, from where we can see the entire coastline while dining on some of its fantastic terraces.

6. Villajoyosa, next to Benidorm but with an air of a fishing village that its ‘older sister’ has long since lost Full of beautiful corners and beaches like Playa Paraíso. His name (“Paradise”) says it all…

7. Denia. The large city north of Alicante, just before reaching Valencia province.

8.Calpe, on the coast, with Peñón de Ifach as its great icon (a protected natural space that you can walk through if you are fit). And it is that, to the surprise of many, Alicante is the 4th province with the most mountains in Spain. I’ll explain it to you in the next point, in case what you like is more to lose yourself on trails than on coves (or combine both).

Alicante: the 4th most mountainous province in Spain

I like to talk about beaches and the sun because it is what may interest you the most in our area.

But if you are a mountain lover, you won’t even miss it here, although it is true that you won’t find the green of northern Europe, but it is still pure beauty.

And it is that Alicante is the 4th most mountainous province in Spain. It is a fact that few know. In the province there are more than 175 mountains, with an approximation of 45 of them above 1,000 meters.

In addition to Sierra de Bernia, my favorite mountains include La Serra Gelada (with views of El Albir beach), Puig Campaña (in Finestrat) and Sierra de Mariola (between Alcoy and Bocairent).
